Zanellato / Bortotto’s design project is a tribute to Venice and the precious mosaic floors of St Mark’s Basilica. Each metal mosaic is made of copper, brass and steel and is treated with oxidization, brushing and erosion processes. Thanks to their craftsmanship, the different metals are transformed into weaves and tapestries that create a visuaL impact. The uniformity and continuity of the oxidations and tones was only possible through in-depth investigation of the different metals, carried out through countless tests and verifications. The tracing Venice exhibition narrate the nature of matter and its evolution in time and space.
