Adidas and KRAM/WEISSHAAR worked together to create a robotically woven upper called Strung that can be made to the exact specification of athletes. The upper is woven from multi-directional threads by a robot that is programmed to the exact requirements of the weaver, incorporating factors such as their individual stride and foot shape. The strings are color coded: red threads are stiffer and stronger, locking your heel in to prevent slip and toughening the toe-box and mid-foot. More supple yellow threads are used in the forefoot for added flexibility. The new manufacturing process create strength without weight.
