Jean-Brieuc Chevalier’s Mille Feuille employs a unique technique of embroidery on wood, merging textile delicacy with sculptural solidity. Threads are meticulously stitched into finely sanded wooden surfaces, creating a tension between softness and rigidity. The process involves piercing the wood to allow the thread’s passage, transforming a traditionally hard medium into something woven and organic. Through this patient, hybrid process, Chevalier redefines embroidery as a form of sculptural drawing, inscribing time, gesture, and material sensitivity.
