Savian is the first fully plant based and plastic free alternative to fur.
Savian has pioneered an innovative and advanced new generation substitute for animal fur. Made in Italy through the combination of natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and biotechnology, the material is entirely plant based, plastic free, and GMO free. Savian was created by the biomaterials startup BioFluff and grew from a fusion of science, textile engineering, and fashion. The name Savian means “Dandelion,” representing inspiration drawn from the soft and natural touch of nature’s own fur.
Savian is a plant based, vegan, and biodegradable alternative to both animal and synthetic furs, made from GMO free vegetal sources such as nettle, hemp, and flax, about half of which can come from agricultural waste streams. According to current production estimates, creating Savian generates roughly 40 to 90 percent less carbon dioxide compared to high quality synthetic fur alternatives.
By blending advanced technology with a mix of cellulose, hemp cellulose, and linen, Savian seeks to evoke an emotional connection on the same level as any product made from animal sources.
