Vlisco Recycled Carpets is the result of substantial material study Simone Post conducted on the leftover fabrics from Vlisco, a high-end wax-printed fabric producer based in the Netherlands and mostly exporting to Africa. It takes a lot of work to design and make these fabrics. Something can go wrong at any of the 27 procedures the wax fabric undergoes. Because of their quality standard, Vlisco is unable to market the typos. Only the very best travel to Africa.

Simone Post has created a range of premium carpets using waste and unusable textiles. Recycling is environmentally responsible and provides a demanding environment for innovation, in contrast to the time-consuming and expensive destruction of unused and rejected textiles. It should go without saying that new products made from waste materials must not interact with Vlisco items already on the market. Furthermore, no manufacturing errors from the original prints should be visible in the new items.

The materials are cut into small strips, folded and coiled into strong carpets in a design based on the side view of the big rolls used to store and transport the textiles. Each and every time a product is made, it is unique due to the infinitely conceivable color combinations. The pattern protects the original printed surfaces and any potential faults while yet showcasing the gorgeous colors of Vlisco in fresh and unexpected ways in the finished carpets.
